ACCGov has contracted with Mr. Charles Hardy to operate a sanctioned homeless encampment with his non-profit, the 1st Step. The encampment provides a legal, low-barrier location for homeless individuals to camp and connects residents with various services and resources. We offer a variety of programs to help our homeless individuals get back on their feet. From job training to mental health counseling, we provide the resources and support necessary to allow individual to reach their goals.

On December 17, 2022, Charles Hardy dedicated over 12 hours to facilitate the transfer of more than 50 homeless residents of 1st Step to Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Athens for the weekend due to inclement weather.
